The Arizona Coyotes on Friday claimed goaltender Jonas Johansson off waivers from the Colorado Avalanche.

Last season, the 27-year-old Swedish netminder appeared in 11 games (eight starts) between the Avalanche and Florida Panthers. He compiled a 3-4-1 record, an .852 save percentage and had a 4.81 goals against average.

However, the majority of the damage against him came in his final start, where he allowed 10 goals against the Montreal Canadiens.

Johansson was a third-round pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014 but made just 13 total appearances in parts of two seasons. Arizona marks his fourth team since his NHL debut in 2019.

In 32 career appearances, Johansson has a 9-13-4 record with an .882 save percentage and one shutout.

The newest Coyote joins a goaltending group with Jon Gillies and Karel Vejmelka.

The latter played 52 games for the Coyotes a season ago, going 13-32-3 with an .898 save percentage and a goals against average of 3.68. He was 14th in the NHL in total saves.
