Apple’s Price Charts Are Getting Badly Bruised
We took out the caution flag on Apple back on March 4 and included a Point and Figure chart with a $135 price target. The On-Balance-Volume (OBV) line is weak and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillator is in a bearish alignment below the zero line. In this weekly Japanese candlestick chart of AAPL, below, we can see that prices have made three weekly closes below the cresting 40-week moving average line.

Google details its latest language model and AI Test Kitchen, a showcase for AI research
During the first of two Google I/O keynotes this week, Google announced LaMDA 2, the follow-up to an AI system, LaMDA, that the company introduced at Google I/O 2021. Short for Language Models for Dialog Applications, Google claims that LaMDA 2 can break down complex topics into straightforward, digestible explanations and steps as well as generate suggestions in response to questions. LaMDA 2, an AI system built for “dialogue applications,” can understand millions of topics and generate “natural conversations” that never take the same path twice, Google says.

Google unveils new 10-shade skin tone scale to test AI for bias
Alphabet Inc’s Google on Wednesday unveiled a palette of 10 skin tones that it described as a step forward in making gadgets and apps that better serve people of color. The company said its new Monk Skin Tone Scale replaces a flawed standard of six colors known as the Fitzpatrick Skin Type, which had become popular in the tech industry to assess whether smartwatch heart-rate sensors, artificial intelligence systems including facial recognition and other offerings show color bias. Reuters exclusively reported last year that Google was developing an alternative.

Google’s Flutter 3 adds support for macOS and Linux desktop apps
At its I/O developer conference, Google today announced the launch of Flutter 3, the latest version of its open source, multiplatform UI development framework for building natively compiled applications. At the time, the team’s focus was mostly on helping developers build cross-platform mobile apps. Since then, it started adding web and desktop support, too, and now, with version 3, the team is closing the loop here by making Linux and macOS desktop support generally available, as well as adding support for Apple Silicon, among many other new features.
