Broncos vs. Chiefs live updates: Sunday Night Football score, news, channel, time, injuries, stats, highlights and more

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ win streak against their AFC West rival Denver Broncos is now at a dozen after a 22-9 win Sunday night.

The Chiefs led from around the seven-minute mark of the first quarter and intercepted Teddy Bridgewater two times to move to 8-4 and retain their division lead. Denver fell to 6-6.

The win was the Chiefs’ fifth in a row. They have had a five-game win streak at some point of each of the nine seasons Andy Reid has been coach. Reid-coached teams are 20-3 coming off their bye weeks.

Chiefs defense stops Broncos

The Broncos turn the ball over on downs with 1:06 left and the Chiefs will win their fifth consecutive game.

Andy Reid is now 20-3 after a bye.

The Chiefs defense played great while the Broncos offense struggled. There’s still a lot of questions about the Chiefs offense.

Maybe there’s too many NFL playoff teams

Al Michaels just listed a bunch of 5-7 NFC teams as being in the hunt and just started laughing.

Broncos – Chiefs rivalry

This used to be a great AFC West rivalry but it hasn’t been the last 10 years or so because the Broncos dominated when they had Peyton Manning and now the Chiefs have dominated since Manning retired. This will be the Chiefs 12th straight win over the Broncos.

Maybe the Broncos can acquire a quarterback next offseason to make this rivalry fun again?

Broncos go onside kick

And the Chiefs recover.

Can the NFL PLEASE fix the onside kick somehow? It’s near impossible.

Javonte Williams scores

On 4th and 7, Javonte Williams catches a Teddy Bridgewater pass in the flat and Williams walks into the end zone.

It’s been a great night for Williams as he makes his debut as the lead back in the Denver backfield.

The two-point conversion fails.

Broncos go for it on 4th and 2 …

And Bridgewater is intercepted by Daniel Sorensen who returns it 73 yards for the Touchdown. Ben Niemann got his hand on the pass to set up the interception for Sorensen.

Well, that probably ends this game.

Harrison Butker missed the extra point.

Resetting things

The Chiefs lead by 13 with just more than 13 minutes remaining.

Denver’s offense and Teddy Bridgewater haven’t been able to do much outside of Javonte Williams running.

Kansas City’s offense hasn’t been great either.

The Chiefs defense is winning this game so far.

Chiefs settle for field goal

Harrison Butker makes his third field goal of the night to give the Chiefs a 16-3 lead.

The Chiefs could’ve ended the game, but failed to score a touchdown or get a first down after getting that gift from the Broncos special teams unit.

Chiefs recover fumble on muffed punt

Byron Pringle got blocked into the Broncos punt returner Diontae Spencer, it hit a Bronco player and Pringle recovered the ball. After a brief conference between the refs, they correctly said that it was the Chiefs.

Kansas City went 3-and-out after the really bad interception by Teddy Bridgewater, which caused the punt.

Chiefs ball inside the red zone.

Teddy throws a pick

Not sure where Bridgewater was looking there but Juan Thornhill picks off the Broncos quarterback.

I watched the replay at least 5 times and I’m still not sure how Bridgewater thought that was a good throw.

Also, there’s a highly illegal block here at the end but the Chiefs linebacker pancakes a lineman who is probably twice his size at the Arrowhead logo at midfield.

Collinsworth says that the players can celebrate and the NFL is FUN again after allowing the cleats for one weekend a year.

Butker adds another field goal

Harrison Butker makes a 45-yard field goal to extend the Chiefs lead.

That drive was mostly just the big pass play to Darrel Williams.

Williams with a big gain

The Chiefs pick up only their second play of more than 20 yards when a scrambling Mahomes finds Darrel Williams for a 38 yard catch down the sideline.

Broncos go 3-and-out

The Broncos get a key interception and then proceed to go 3-and-out against the Chiefs.

Denver is sticking in this game with the Chiefs thanks to that long drive in the first half.

Kansas City just hasn’t had enough possessions to run up the score.

Broncos pick off Mahomes

Another drop by Tyreek Hill results in a Patrick Surtain interception. I’m pretty sure more than half of Patrick Mahomes’ interceptions this year have been on drops from Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. That wasn’t a poorly thrown ball either.

Second half underway in KC

This is a big drive for the Chiefs as the Broncos want to kill the clock and make this game very boring.

Javonte Williams a bright spot

If you have had him in fantasy leagues all season, you’re happy tonight. He has 17 touches for 106 yards in what was a low-scoring first half.

End of the first half

The Chiefs lead 10-3. Kansas City scored on it first two drives and then struggled on its third. Denver then ran 20 plays on a drive and didn’t score any points while controlling the ball for most of the second quarter.

Kansas City gets the ball to start the second half.

Win probabilities

Analytics loves going for it on 4th down…

The third time is the charm for the #Chiefs defense.

Once again, we agreed with the #Broncos decision to go for it on 4th and 2 from the 8-yard line, giving Denver 4.3% greater pre-snap win probability.

Unfortunately for Denver, they are stopped and come away with 0 points.

Chiefs stop Broncos

The Broncos ran 20 plays, ate up 11:09 of clock and came up with zero points.

After converting on 4th and 1 and 4th and 7 on the drive, the Chiefs defense led by Willie Gay stuffed Javonte Williams on a run play at the Chiefs’ 9-yard line.

The Chiefs defense has to be gassed after facing 20 plays. But to be honest, the Broncos offensive line looked gassed at the end of that drive as well.

Denver has its own brand of football and this is part of it. Now Mahomes has the ball with just over a minute left before halftime and two timeouts.
