The Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday were awarded a waiver claim to acquire punter Ryan Winslow, who was released by the Green Bay Packers a day prior.
Arizona waived backup punter Tyler Newsome in a corresponding move Tuesday.
Winslow spent parts of 2019 and 2020 with the Cardinals and appeared in two games with them in 2019. He posted a net average of 44.2 yards on six punts and pinned two inside the 20-yard line.
He joins starting punter Andy Lee on the current roster.
Lee, 39, re-signed with Arizona this offseason with preparation to play his fifth year with the Cardinals. He has appeared in 63 of 64 regular season games since joining the team in 2017.
Winslow, who went undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2018, spent time with the NFL’s Chicago Bears before playing for the Alliance of American Football’s San Diego Fleet and Memphis Express in 2019. He then joined the Cardinals before the team released him last September.
Newsome punted once in Arizona’s preseason opener last Friday, booting a ball 52 yards before it fell inside the 20-yard line.
