Arizona Cardinals backup quarterback Colt McCoy took the field for pregame warmups Saturday ahead of the preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans.

It was the first time he’d suited up this preseason, although, he did not play in the game.

McCoy dealt with what head coach Kliff Kingsbury described as “arm soreness” early on in training camp and did not take a snap in three preseason contests. Only Trace McSorley and Jarrett Guarantano went under center for Arizona.

There were times during camp when McCoy did not throw at all, although he progressed past that point over the last couple weeks.

Kingsbury is not concerned about the quarterback heading into the regular season, as he told reporters after Saturday’s game.

“We hope to get him out there somewhat next week in a limited manner,” Kingsbury said.  “Then by game week, I expect him to be full go.”

McCoy signed a two-year deal to stick around in the offseason after stepping in effectively as Kyler Murray’s backup in 2021.

He went 2-1 in three starts when Murray dealt with an ankle injury.
