Of all the NFL rookies making their preseason debuts this past weekend, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Marco Wilson had the sixth-best performance, according to Pro Football Focus.

Against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, the fourth-round pick showed why there has been plenty of buzz surrounding his name in training camp.

Targeted six times, Wilson only allowed three completions for 30 yards while adding three pass-breakups, leading all corners from Week 1 of the preseason. He also had four tackles.

With the Cardinals having questions at corner, the emergence of Wilson will be something to keep an eye on heading into the regular season.

As the regular season gets closer, the Cardinals will have Malcom Butler and Byron Murphy as the top two corners, while Robert Alford and Wilson compete for the No. 3 role.

In the first practice after Arizona’s preseason opener, Wilson revealed that he’s been picking the brain of DeAndre Hopkins and other veteran corners.

“I feel like I lean on all the vet defensive backs equally, trying to get some knowledge from them,” Wilson said Sunday. “But one thing that’s really been helpful, I talk to DeAndre Hopkins because he goes against some of the greatest guys in the league at my position so I ask him for tips every now and then.”
