Crawley to Play for Team USA in Super Sixes – Lehigh University Athletics

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men’s lacrosse assistant coach John Crawley has been named to the roster for the United States men’s team that will compete against Canada and the Iroquois Nationals during the World Lacrosse Super Sixes event this coming weekend, Oct. 23-24. The event will take place at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Sixes is a fast-paced version of lacrosse played with fewer players (six against six) on a smaller field (70 by 36 meters). The game length is also condensed (four eight-minute quarters) with a 30-second shot clock.

This weekend’s event features a round-robin format. On Saturday, the U.S. men will play Canada at 3:45 p.m. and the Iroquois at 6:15 p.m. Then on Sunday, Crawley and the U.S. will face the Iroquois at 9:30 a.m. and Canada at 2:30 p.m.

This weekend marks the first international competition for the U.S. national teams (men’s and women’s) using this new format. Sixes will be the form used for some designated events, including The World Games – a multi-sport Olympic-style event in Birmingham, Ala. next summer.

Crawley has plenty of experience playing professionally, most recently as a midfielder for Atlas of the Premier Lacrosse League after beginning his pro career in Major League Lacrosse. A two-time honorable mention All-American at Johns Hopkins, Crawley played in all 60 games, starting 30, while posting 70 career goals and 30 assists. The two-time captain was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team as a sophomore, helping the Blue Jays to the Final Four.

Crawley enters his third season on the Lehigh sidelines in 2021-22, serving as offensive coordinator.
