Emily Roberts Named C-USA Defender of the Week – Old Dominion University – Old Dominion University

NORFOLK, Va. – Senior Emily Roberts (Severn, Md.) of the Old Dominion women’s soccer team was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Sunday. This is the second time Roberts has been named Defender of the Week for the conference this season. 

Roberts has been an essential piece of the ODU women’s soccer team this season. The three-year captain has helped ODU make history becoming the Conference USA East Division Regular Season Champions for the first time in school history and going unbeaten in six straight conference games. The center back assisted in going 6-1-1 in conference play while only conceding one goal.  

On top of her stellar defending, Roberts has taken advantage in attack opportunities recording one goal, two assists, and seven shots. One of her assists was against WKU to help ODU become the top team in the East Division.  

Roberts will take the field to lead the Monarchs in the 2021 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Championship in Boca Raton, Florida. ODU will play in the quarterfinals on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
