The Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Kyler Murray will get some help in the backfield on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams with running back James Conner (ankle) “tracking to play,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter said Conner will test it pregame after head coach Kliff Kingsbury said he was a gametime decision on Friday. The RB was a limited participant in the past two practices.

He was a major factor in the Week 4 road victory over the Rams last season, rushing 18 times for 50 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals as a team rushed for 216 yards in the win.

The running back has not matched his early 2021 production this season, rushing 17 times for 51 yards and a touchdown in two games. He has also hauled in seven passes for 55 yards.

Conner signed a three-year, $21 million extension in the offseason to be Arizona’s RB1 after Chase Edmonds left in free agency to play for the Miami Dolphins.

Darrel Williams (eight carries) and Eno Benjamin (12 carries) have both rushed for 59 yards each on the year while Murray has rushed for 57.

Additionally, wideout Rondale Moore and linebacker Ezekiel Turner will both miss Sunday’s NFC West tilt for the Cardinals. Cornerback Trayvon Mullen Jr. is expected to make his season debut for the Cardinals.

Kickoff between Arizona and L.A. is set for 1:25 p.m. Catch all the action on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
