Pac-12 football Week 1 picks, predictions:

College Football News: San Diego State 26, Arizona 17

Pete Fiutak writes: “Snapdragon Stadium – San Diego State has its shiny new home to play in. In a night-and-day different atmosphere, the Aztecs go from playing in front of friends and family in Carson, California, to having a showpiece, intimate, state-of-the-art stadium as part of a massive development plan. Arizona will be far better this season, but it won’t be able to overcome the Aztec defense that will come up with third down stop after third down stop.”

Fansided: Take San Diego State to cover vs. Arizona

Donnavan Smoot writes: “San Diego State was one of my favorite teams to bet on last season and I’ll continue to back them this year. The Aztecs had one of the more dominate defenses in the country, stifling the run and forcing turnovers when needed. Arizona was a mess in 2021. The Wildcats went 1-11 and won their only game by a final score of 10-3. Although you’d expect improvement, there’s not a lot you can ask of a team that nearly went winless.”

Picks and Parlays: San Diego State 38, Arizona 10

Cameron Ross writes: “The Arizona Wildcats were terrible last year and it will trickle over into 2022. Look for the Aztecs to come out locked in as they handle business in week 1 of the season. SDSU will dominate both sides of the ball as they coast to an easy 1-0 record on the year. Take SDSU to open the year with a win and cover.”

Sports Chat Place: Take the under in Arizona vs. San Diego State game

Chris Ruffolo writes: “This is an interesting matchup for sure, and while both teams have had the offseason to get acclimated and cohesive, the reality is that we still have to see it at game speed and San Diego State isn’t the kind of team you want to see in your first game if you’re Arizona, with that Aztec defense on the other side. On the other hand, the Aztecs aren’t flashy offensively and they don’t necessarily light the world on fire in terms of hanging points on the board. I think this is going to be a grind it out style of game that struggles to get to 40 points so give me the under here.”
