Wildcat Wednesday – McKale Masking Reminder – University of Arizona Athletics – University of Arizona Athletics

I will begin this week’s Wildcat Wednesday email with another reminder for fans regarding masking in McKale Center. We continue to increase our communication on the University of Arizona’s campus masking requirements for indoor facilities. The athletics department has reinforced these requirements by reminding fans through in-venue signage, social media posts, email communications, public service announcements and messages played on McKale Center’s video scoreboard.

Those requirements, in conjunction with campus guidance, are that masks are required to enter McKale Center and must be worn at all times when inside the facility. Fans and patrons are only permitted to remove their mask if they are eating or drinking in their seats. While we can’t guarantee compliance by all fans and patrons in the facility, we continue to make every effort to effectively communicate these requirements.

We understand that each fan needs to make a decision about whether they are comfortable attending a sporting event, and we encourage those who have concerns about their personal health not to attend.  As a resource, our ArizonaWildcats.com/GameDayHealth page has more health and safety information for fans.

Thank you for your cooperation. Bear Down and Mask Up

We opened this week with a win and a banner ceremony for Arizona Women’s Basketball. After a dominant 55-point win over Texas Southern behind a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by Cate Reese, our team held its official banner celebration as the program’s first-ever Final Four banner was raised into the rafters of McKale Center.

This was a memorable unveiling as this historic achievement will be a fixture in the storied McKale Center for thousands of fans to see and enjoy. The magical run in San Antonio now has a tribute here in Southern Arizona.

Coach Barnes and the Wildcats will close the week out with a Friday evening game against Marist at 6:30 p.m. (MST). If you don’t have season tickets, you can click here to buy tickets for Friday’s game. Bear Down and Go Cats!

Our reoccurring student-athlete profile series features Kim Aiken Jr. of Arizona Men’s Basketball. Kim began his Wildcat journey after transferring from Eastern Washington this summer, and he has already begun to make the most of his student-athlete experience as a Wildcat. He’s fulfilling our Wildcat Way mission as a graduate transfer by developing into an academic, athletic and life champion. Read more about Kim’s life as a student-athlete.

Arizona Football capped its Senior Day game versus Utah with a hard-fought battle as our student-athletes and coaches once again competed and represented our university proudly. Hats off to our more than 20 seniors who played their final home game in Arizona Stadium for representing the Block A as academic, athletic and life champions throughout your careers.

Saturday afternoon was also our annual Military Appreciation Game as we continue to honor the outstanding men and women serving our nation, including those stationed at nearby Davis Monthan Air Force Base and Fort Huachuca. Our Tickets for Troops promotion for the game, which allows fans to buy tickets for $15 to be donated to servicemen and women, sold 1,496 tickets for members of our military in Southern Arizona. Thank you to the Wildcat Family for helping us honor and recognize members of our armed forces.

We have two football games remaining this season, and both are on the road. The Cats will travel to Pullman to face Washington State at 7 p.m. (MST) on Friday, Nov. 19 on Pac-12 Networks and Wildcats Radio 1290 AM. The Territorial Cup has a kickoff time as we will face the Sun Devils in Tempe at 2 p.m. (MST) on Saturday, Nov. 27 with Pac-12 Networks and Wildcats Radio 1290 AM broadcasts as well.

Arizona Volleyball finished the season sweep of Colorado in its last match behind 15 kills from Sofia Maldonado Diaz and 13 from Puk Stubbe. Puk now leads all Pac-12 freshmen with 245 kills on the season. Sofia, Puk and the rest of the team travel to Los Angeles this week for matches against UCLA and USC. The trip begins with a 9 p.m. (MST) match on Friday, Nov. 19 at USC. Follow @ArizonaVBall on social media and visit ArizonaWildcats.com for all your game day information.

The regular season finale for Coach Rubio and the Wildcats is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27 at 12 p.m. (MST) when the team welcomes the Sun Devils to McKale Center. If you haven’t gotten tickets for the final home volleyball match of the season, buy them now.

We announced our partnership with DYME last week, which is a new social media platform for fans to connect with their favorite Wildcat student-athletes. This new endeavor is the latest addition to our athletics department’s growing NIL programming, which is part of our “Wildcat Way” student-athlete experience. Read more information about the exciting new initiative.

Arizona Men’s Basketball is off to Las Vegas to participate in the Roman Main Event tournament in T-Mobile Arena. The Wildcats will face Wichita State in the first game at 8 p.m. (MST) on Friday on ESPNU before playing again on Sunday evening versus either UNLV or Michigan.

Coach Lloyd and the Wildcats have won their first three games of the season in impressive fashion after tallying the win over North Dakota State Tuesday night in McKale Center. Arizona has now posted back-to-back wins of 50 or more points for the first time since the 1920-21 season.

We know how much the Wildcat Family loves catching the Cats and turning T-Mobile Arena into McKale North. You can still purchase tickets for these games if you’d like to Bear Down with us in Las Vegas.

With many of our programs competing after Thanksgiving, we’d like to remind fans that the McKale Center Ticket Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26 for the holidays. You can still purchase tickets for games and matches on those days by shopping online on ArizonaWildcats.com.
